Retreat for fathers & sons (ages 9 & up)


This camp is a 2 night / 3 day retreat that brings fathers and sons (ages 9 and up) together, to grow in their relationship with each other and the Lord. It is a week-end of fun and learning principles from God’s Word on competition, self-esteem, and communication. The camp offers great coaching on the mats for sons, while dads are learning God’s principles on being husbands and fathers. Camp registration opens Friday afternoon and runs until 12pm on Sunday.    




Coach Steve Garland – Steve was a 3 time qualifier for the NCAA’s for University of Virginia, ACC Wrestler of the Year & NCAA All-American (finalist) in 2000. Coach Garland started his coaching career at Cornell University (from 2000-2006), where he was voted the National Asst. Coach of the Year by the NWCA for the 2005-2006 season. In 2006 Steve took over the wrestling program at U.VA, where he has produced 14 NCAA All-Americans, 19 ACC Champions, and qualified 90 wrestlers for the NCAA D-I tournament. In the past 16 years Steve has built U.VA into a nationally recognized wrestling program. They have had seven top 25 team finishes at the NCAA tournament in the past 11 years, and two ACC Team Championships (2010 & 2015), while always maintaining one of the top academic teams in the nation. Coach Garland is a highly sought-after motivational speaker, an outstanding leader, and a man of strong Christian faith. Steve & his wife have 2 children.   

Cliff Harris – A 2x GA state champ; Graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, where he was a 4 year starter; Captain of the West Point team in 1987 (the only West Point team in history to win the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Assoc. tournament); 3x Placer at the EIWA championships (4th, 3rd, 2nd) & EIWA Finalist in 1987; 2x qualifier for the NCAA Championships.  Cliff served in the U.S. Army as an officer and an Army Aviator. He is a Gulf War Veteran and recipient of numerous battle decorations, including The Air Medal with “V” for valor in Combat Operations during Desert Storm and the Meritorious Service Medal. Today Cliff is a successful businessman and a community wrestling coach in Carrollton, GA. Cliff and his wife, Amy, have three grown children. 

Tony Van Horn A former NJ state champ; two-year starter for Ohio State University, and a Big Ten placer. Coach Van Horn coached McEachern H.S. (Powder Springs) to 6 Georgia HS state team championships. Today Tony is a financial planner for the Van Horn Group, at UBS Financial.  He and his wife, Kelley, have two children (a college graduate, a Sr. in high school). 

Bill Gifford – A 3x placer in the NEIWA championships for Springfield College, & competed at the D-II NCAA’s. After a year of coaching at Springfield, he wrestled for the Athletes-in-Action from 1976 – 1980, qualifying for the USA Team Training Camp 3 times (2x in freestyle & 1x in Greco).  Bill has an M.Div. & is Director of FCA Wrestling-Georgia. Bill & Kay have 4 grown sons.     

Cost$350.00/ father & son couple, and $150 for each additional wrestler. 

(Price includes 5 meals, 2 nights lodging, great technique training, a camp T-shirt, & FCA Bible.)
